Communication Engineer

About the role

We're looking for a Communication Engineer to join Wavestorm's technical team. You'll work across MANET, HF, and SATCOM systems, integrating products from leading global OEMs into solutions tailored for Canadian and allied defence customers. The role combines hands-on RF engineering with direct customer engagement, no two weeks look the same.

What you'll do

  • Design, integrate, and validate multi-domain communications systems (MANET, HF, SATCOM)
  • Lead technical evaluation and benchmarking of OEM products
  • Support T&E (Test & Evaluation) campaigns with customers and partners
  • Contribute technical content to bids, proposals, and capability briefings
  • Provide deployment and in-service technical support to customers
  • Work directly with international OEM partners on integration and customisation

What you bring

  • Engineering degree (Electrical, Telecommunications, RF, or related)
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in RF systems, wireless communications, or tactical comms
  • Hands-on system integration and troubleshooting experience
  • Strong technical communication skills, comfortable in customer-facing settings
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident (Controlled Goods Program eligibility)

Bonus points

  • Prior defence sector or military experience
  • Field deployment experience in operational environments
  • Familiarity with MANET, HF, or SATCOM platforms from major OEMs

Wavestorm operates within the Canadian defence industrial base. Most of our work involves ITAR-aware engineering, controlled goods, and customer-facing roles where Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) compliance and government security clearance eligibility may be required.
